JESSICA NUSSENBAUM
ABOUT
Born in Paris, the city of lights, Jessica Nussenbaum was raised in a multicultural environment mixing her mother’s Cuban American origins with her father’s polish descent. But a Parisian at heart, she grew up being struck by the cultural wonders of this unique city, forging very early on in her life a passion for the arts.
After obtaining her French baccalaureate, Jessica moved across the pond to study in Boston and then obtained a dual master’s degree in International and Public Affairs from Columbia University and Science Po, Paris. During her time in the US, she had her first professional exposure to the art world when interning at Sotheby’s. She was immediately fascinated by this tangled up maze of artists, collectors, gallerists, and merchants and knew that from then on, her life would embrace this intimate world.
Back in Paris Jessica started her professional career at Christie’s in the Interiors and Latin American art departments. This peculiar mix gave her the opportunity to expand her horizons broadly, from out of fashion but full of memories of the past objects to priceless masterpieces. Quickly though Jessica realized that what really captivated her wasn’t the art market so to say but the passions behind it. The collector’s passion, the random visitor’s passion, the artist’s passion, and that magic could arise from creating encounters between all of them.
Since then, her professional and personal lives have traveled an unpaved path, living adventures in uncharted territories, giving her the unique chance of surrounding herself with passionate and fascinating people. From assisting an eccentric kinetic and optic art collector, to helping launch an online auction house or supporting the Centre Pompidou’s international patrons, Jessica has nourished this eclectic personality.
In the most recent years, Jessica has dedicated her time to programming artistic and cultural events. In Boston she ran the cultural programs for the French Cultural Center, bringing to the city a fresh perspective on the arts. She has also organized tours of international art fairs for art market students and increased her collaboration with universities and nonprofit organizations curating international conferences bringing together artists and intellectuals to reflect on the world.
