JESSICA NUSSENBAUM
Breakfast & Talk: Emilie De Pauw, founder of Panoptès in conversation with art critic Louisa Buck
Jessica Nussenbaum organized and hosted a conversation between Belgian collector Emilie De Pauw and Louisa Buck, Art Critic and Contemporary Art Correspondent at The Art Newspaper.
The event was held on the 12th of January 2023 in London and organised in collaboration with The Club, Parcours Saint Germain.
Panoptès is a private art space located in the heart of Brussels. It was founded by Emilie De Pauw in 2015 and has a focus on perceptual and experiential art.
Emilie inherited a collection of Modern and Contemporary art from her grandmother, Claire De Pauw, but decided to concentrate on phenomenology and what artworks could tell us about what it means to be a body in a space.
What is happening at the level of our five senses and that of our consciousness when being confronted with a work of art is what the collection wants to investigate through historical and contemporary works, mainly abstract and sometimes involving technology, sound and light devices, optical effects and so on.
